Waterfront Leadership

The Camp Ramaquois Waterfront Leadership team plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all campers participating in aquatics activities at camp. They are responsible for overseeing many aspects of our aquatics program, including planning and leading swim lessons, supervising free swim periods, and organizing pool games and other aquatic events.

To ensure a safe and enjoyable pool experience for all campers, the Waterfront Leadership team will work closely with the camp director and other camp staff. This may involve enforcing pool rules and regulations, providing individualized instruction to campers who need additional support, and administering first aid and CPR in the event of an emergency. The Waterfront Leadership will also be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and proper chemical levels in the pool and pool area, and ensuring that all staff members are trained in and adhere to established safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and lead a variety of aquatics activities and programs that are developmentally appropriate for campers of all ages and abilities
  • Supervise campers in the pool area at all times to ensure their safety and well-being, including enforcing pool rules and regulations
  • Teach swim lessons and provide individualized instruction to campers as needed
  • Administer first aid and CPR as needed in the event of an emergency
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper chemical levels in the pool and pool area, including conducting daily pool checks and completing required documentation
  • Collaborate with the camp director and other staff to plan and execute aquatic events and activities, such as water carnivals and pool parties
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills, including the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team of lifeguards and aquatics staff
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry best practices, trends, and regulations related to aquatics and pool safety

Qualifications:

  • Current certification in Lifeguard Training, First Aid, and CPR
  • Previous experience working as a lifeguard or aquatic instructor
  • Strong swim skills and ability to teach swim lessons to a variety of age groups
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well in a team and follow established safety protocols
  • Commitment to providing a positive and enjoyable camp experience for all campers
