Pool Lifeguard

The Pool Lifeguard is responsible for maintaining a high level of safety for campers ages 3 to 15 while they are participating in swimming activities at Camp Ramaquois, a summer day camp. The Pool Lifeguard will enforce pool rules, perform rescue and emergency procedures, and ensure that all safety equipment is properly maintained and readily available. In addition to safety responsibilities, the Pool Lifeguard will also be responsible for teaching swimming skills to campers of varying ages and abilities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a high level of safety for campers while they are participating in swimming activities
  • Enforce pool rules and regulations
  • Perform rescue and emergency procedures as needed
  • Maintain and properly store all safety equipment
  • Teach swimming skills to campers of varying ages and abilities
  • Collaborate with other counselors and staff to create a fun and engaging camp experience for all campers

Qualifications:

  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification or willingness to obtain certification
  • Current American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid certifications or willingness to obtain certification
  • Previous experience as a lifeguard and swim instructor is preferred, but not required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Physical fitness and ability to perform rescue and emergency procedures
  • Passion for working with children and commitment to helping them develop their swimming skills
